Helen Shields | Snap Crackle POP
4 April – 16 May
Helen’s most recent project is an exploration of Geometric Abstraction; typified by the reductive use of form, repetition, seriality and colour. Via hard edge painting, these works embrace the optimistic with their crisp edges, balance and playful colour juxtapositions. Some works have been reconfigured as collages using paper weaving. The title for each work extends the playful, with a nod to the cultural mores of the Mid-Century Modern era.

Frances Feasey | Good Night Sun
16 May – 2 July
This series of paintings depicts Frances Feasey’s love of the local bush sunset. The sunset is historically seen as quintessentially Australian. In 1904 the artist Hans Heysen once said, “We are a people of sunshine and shadow.” With the use of bright colours and expressive brushstrokes these paintings imbue the essence of what makes a sunset so evocative. This is a subject that most viewers can enjoy collectively and relate to from their own memories of memorably sunsets.
