Livestream at the Hub on 22 October

Katoomba feels too far away? Never fear, because this year the Blue Mountains Writers’ Festival have partnered with the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub in Springwood to livestream two fabulous events direct from The Carrington Hotel in Katoomba on Saturday 22 October.

Broadcasting live, you’ll be able to listen to Rick Morton and George Haddad in conversation about the challenges of masculinity, and hear Tony Birch and Annie-Marie Te Whiu talk about story and human connection.

9:30am – 10:30am: Living Vulnerably: In Conversation with Rick Morton and George Haddad

Rick Morton (One Hundred Years of Dirt, My Year of Living Vulnerably) and George Haddad (Losing Face) look at issues of masculinity and class in writing and the mercurial line between lived experience and written representation. Be challenged and stimulated by their frank and honest discussion about their writing lives and how being vulnerable opens up possibilities to view the world around us.

11:00am – 12:00pm: Talking Story and Human Connection with Tony Birch and Anne-Marie Te Whiu

Tony Birch is a renowned Aboriginal author, storyteller and voice for change. An academic and activist, Tony is an extraordinarily versatile author who has written everything from bestselling novels, to exceptional short stories, and lyrical, moving poetry. His writing has won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing, the Patrick White Literary Award, and been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. Treat yourself to this insightful session as Tony discusses his writing with cultural producer, writer, editor and weaver, and Senior Project Manager of Red Room Poetry, Anne-Marie Te Whiu.

Author sessions will be live streamed in Studio 1, Blue Mountains Theatre, 106 Macquarie Road Springwood and tickets will be available from this website from 10am on 15 September.
